There wasn't time to go for a better composition so I just ran for my camera
These little pieces of lava seemed to have been protected from the elements
Before all the State Parks were shut down I had two joy filled days photographing the little female hummingbirds gathering fluff for their nests
We have a whole raised bed filled with golden crocuses
Before all the State Parks were shut down I had two joy filled days photographing the little female hummingbirds gathering fluff for their nests
While we were in Hawaii. we explored some of the places we had gone before last year's lava flow and found this mini lava tube with leaves growing at the entryway
It took this plant about 5 years before it finally bloomed but it was worth the wait
I love her little feet. Before all the State Parks were shut down I had two joy filled days photographing the little female hummingbirds gathering fluff for their nests

Is this adorable or what? Before all the State Parks were shut down I had two joy filled days photographing the little female hummingbirds gathering fluff for their nests

There is a birdbath visible through the screening on the lanai of the cabin where we stay in Hawaii
How life feels in the moment. from our recent trip to Hawaii
When we brought our kids and our family to join us in Hawaii to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we gifted them a night manta ray tour. We saw exactly zero manta rays and many of us got seasick. Last year Jim and I had dinner at a restaurant that offers dining spots with view of manta rays feeding near by but again, zero manta rays. We went back this year (twice in fact) and were delighted to finally get to see them. The darkness, movement of the manta rays and movement of the water made shooting hard but I was delighted to get some shots I like!

Looks like a sculpture of a bird to me!
From our tree that reminds us it is Spring
From next to the car port in Hawaii
Or Hawaii landlord grows beautiful orchids
Shot through screening on our Hawaii vacation lanai
This is from a previous lava flow but inspiring to see the regrowth
On our hike on the South Jetty trail (before it was closed down for covid 19), one day we saw this male ring necked duck with no females. When we went back the next week, he had two with him!
Saffron Finch in Hawaii
This church was painted inside long ago by a priest who painted as prayer
I don't know what they are called but I thought they were pretty
There were two cattle egrets that were hanging around the yard where we stayed in HI
Fresh lava flow from last year's flow
We took a drive up to the trail head for volcano climb and found ourselves being scolded by a male Erkel's francolin
Taken near the refuge on the Big Island
I love these little birds
I thought the snag looked like Kokopelli and boy did we have pretty sunsets while we were still in Hawaii
We all were holing on to one of these ropes when we took kids and their families on night manta ray tour 6 years ago...we got seasick but saw no rays
Feasting right next to the grocery store parking lot in Hawaii. Can you find all 4 babies?
Take at McKenzie State Park on the Big Island. We love this park and were so happy to see it was spared from the lava flow
We saw lots of dolphins but they were very far away for good photos
Taken in a church parking lot one evening in Hawaii
We found a new spot to photograph banyan roots
Taken overlooking Kealakekua Bay the same morning we saw the whales
This is a retired steeple from the Painted Church on the Big Island
We took the picturesque route back to our rental home
We were afraid the Thurston tube had been destroyed by last year's lava flow, but it wasn't. We learned that the tube is open to visitors 24 hours/day and that they turn off the lights at 8 PM. We went after that with our head lamps and had the place to ourselves
